The M8100, Fujitsu’s 128-track half inch cartridge
tape drive, is a new generation tape drive to
meet the mission critical data environment
needs for high speed, large capacity and full
format compatibility with IBM® 3590™ Magstar™.
The M8100 transfer rate (13.5MB/s Native) is
4.5 MB/s faster than the IBM 3590 Magstar (9.0MB/s
Native). In addition, the M8100 boasts a Mean-Time-
Between-Failure (MTBF) rating of 100,000
hours, among the highest in the industry, and is
covered by a two-year limited warranty.
Utilizing Fujitsu’s state of the art design
technology, the bezel and cartridge opening
are the same form factor and location as previous
Fujitsu half-inch cartridge tape drives.
Moreover, the new high density read/write magnetic
tape head creates increased recording density and
the highly reliable tracking control system achieves
greater track density. The formatter and Ultra-SCSI host interface are integrated into the same 8-inch
form factor drive cabinet. Therefore, tape drive systems
currently using the Fujitsu half-inch cartridge tape
drive series, can be easily upgraded with the new
M8100 for increased capacity and performance with
less integration investment.
