Shaffstall Software Upgrades QuickTape Version 7.1 (DOS) (QT.EXE) in the Windows 95/98/NT environment New Tape Drive Support
Sony SDX-500 - 8mm AIT-2 cartridge drive Software changes: Fix: DEFAULT.SSD (1.2-08) to correctly append data on "blind-copy" tape-to-disk operations. Fix: Error condition on Sony 4mm STD9000 drives during mode-change between fixed and variable modes Added ASPI_TRANSFER_LIMIT. This allows systems using ASPI to handle blocks greater than the standard 65536 byte ASPI limit. This is not a guaranteed function in WinXX machines due to their handling of (virtual) memory. See the CNF file for more details or contact Shaffstall Technical Support Fix: APPEND logic to set correct density on continuation volumes. Modified QuickTape NLM to allow running without a local ASPI. Driver. Fix: MASTRMAK.SSD (1.3-12) to better handle Win95 error codes for master image volume-spanning. Fix: MASTRMAK.SSD (1.3-10) for tape with leading tape mark.
QuickTape on Window 95 / 98 / NT /2000 QuickTape (QT.EXE) software with following serial numbers will not run on Win 95/98/ NT/2000.
Serial numbers are displayed on bottom line of computer screen when in "Utility" screen of QuickTape and are printed on the original 3.5" software distribution diskette. QuickTape (QT.EXE) software version 6.10 and earlier may not run on Win 95/98/ NT/2000.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Approved 32-bit SCSI host adapters:
16-bit ISA SCSI host adapters will not work with QT, if PC's memory is more than 16MB An ASPI device driver from the manufacturer of the SCSI card must be used. While 95/98/NT and Win 2000 are plug and play and come with a vast array of drivers for the different manufacturers, it is best to obtain the latest versions from the manufacturer. ASPI limits QuickTape to maximum 65000 bytes per transfer. 65000 bytes is now the maximum block size (tape block) that will transfer. Older systems running QuickTape under DOS and Buslogic 545/747/946 and Adaptec 1540/1740 could run blocks as large as 16MB. QT Version 7 may be able to process blocks larger than 65000 bytes. See 7.1 update notes
